I Still Have Faith In You

When I first heard the news this morning, I wasn't feeling overly excited.  Can it be true?  Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny, and Frida in the studio recording two new songs?  I still can't believe it!  Now that I'm more awake and thinking about it, I'm honestly so excited, I've never felt this much excitement in my life!

While the Virtual ABBA tour isn't a reunion (I'm still saying that - it won't be a reunion unless all four of them are there in real life singing on tour which I don't think is happening. :3 ), we got what seems to be the closest we'll ever get to seeing ABBA reuniting, possibly the ABBA reunion that we've all been waiting for.   Funnily enough, a few months ago, I had been saying to my family, what if they recorded a new song and performed it live during the tour?  I didn't get a chance to blog about it since I had too many thoughts I couldn't write them all down, but I put the question there.  Turns out I may be right!

I have so many questions about this whole project.  I'm so confused, but excited. This feels like a dream, but it's not!  December isn't too far away now, so soon we will be able to hear ABBA singing once more together again.  :)

Also, today Frida's new recording of Andante, Andante with Arturo Sandoval was released today.  I have yet to listen to it, but I just know it's amazing! :D

Happy 73rd birthday, Bjorn!

Today's our favorite ABBA guitarist's birthday! :D  Happy birthday Bjorn, I hope you have a fabulous 73rd birthday celebration!!
I drew this picture for Bjorn's birthday.  It's not the greatest since I was having some difficulties with this drawing, but it's pretty good.  I also have a speedpaint video up on my YouTube channel so you can check it out too if you'd like. :D

Rest in peace, Avicii

I'm very sad to hear that the Swedish DJ Avicii passed away today.  He made some really incredible songs, I've heard Wake Me Up play at the store all the time.  I never listened to his music on my own, but I know that he had some amazing talent and skills.

In 2013 he wrote a song with Bjorn and Benny for the Eurovision Song Contest called We Write the Story.

Rest in peace, Avicii.  You will be missed.

Virtual ABBA news

Recently, Bjorn gave a speech where he announced some exciting updates on the Virtual ABBA Tour that is happening in 2019! :D  I still have lots of questions about holographic ABBA, I'm sure a lot of us do, but I'm ridiculously excited for what's to come!

Firstly, the "ABBAtars" as Bjorn calls them, will be in the style of ABBA's 1979 tour look.  He says that they all liked the way they looked then.  I know a lot of people prefer the 1977 tour look over the 1979 tour appearance (I might be among those people, haha), but I can see how the 1979 tour look is a pretty iconic one.  And if ABBA themselves prefer the way they looked in 1979, then that's perfectly alright.  I'm thinking that maybe they could do something like they have with the wax figures at the museum, where they're wearing their 1979 outfits but look like they did in 1977 (Agnetha has long hair instead of short hair, Frida's hair is long and red, etc.)  As someone who's crazy about getting everything perfect and accurate (you all know how I am with tribute bands), I wouldn't be too happy with that, but it's a compromise. Still, I'm quite excited for this.  If they're going for the 1979 look, I wonder if this will be a recreation of the 1979 tour as well.  (But then no one would need my recreation videos anymore.. *cries*  just kidding of course. :) )   Random thought here, but what if I helped inspire them to make this with my videos...?

Seeing as Benny said that they'd use studio vocals as well, I'm assuming for songs that ABBA had never performed live before, I'm thinking that they're just using the 1979 appearance and then a whole new set list.  It'll be cool either way.  I'm curious as to whether they'll switch costumes from white to blue like they did in 1979, or will just be wearing one of the costumes. If the latter is the case, I wonder which costumes they'll choose, white or blue...  Or maybe they could make a whole new outfit design that Owe Sandstrom could come up with to make the tour even more unique!

Bjorn also mentioned that in the fall of 2018, there will be a broadcasted ABBA tribute show on TV where lots of guest artists will be performing, and best of all, Vitrual ABBA will be making their debut where they will be preforming one song!  In Bjorn's speech, he said that the song could have been the title of his speech and that if you know, you know which song it is, but I honestly don't really have the patience to watch his entire speech to try and figure out which song it is, so I'll have to wait until this fall to find out.  (I just hope they won't be singing Dancing Queen since that'll be a bit of a let down to me... sorry.)  And then in 2019, Virtual ABBA goes on tour.  I'm so happy to hear that we don't have to wait until next year to see how Virtual ABBA works and what it'll be like.

I still can't believe that this is happening and that everyone will get to see ABBA performing again on stage as holograms - this is not a reunion.  I really hope that when the tour begins, that they'll come somewhere near me so that I'll be able to share this experience.  I don't want to miss out on this incredible thing!

Super-per Trouper-per

This is actually really funny. The day after I took pictures of my whole collection, I stopped by Goodwill and decided to randomly look through the record selection that they have.  Normally I never do that since whenever I go to Goodwill I'm more interested in looking for nice clothes and toy ducks.  :P  (I have a slight obsession with ducks if you didn't notice, haha.)  Since there were no ducks and I already have too many clothes, I decided to check out the records and what do I find: Super Trouper.  :O  So of course I grabbed it and brought it home.  And even better, it was only $2!  Talk about my lucky day! :D

Also later that day I played it on my dad's record player, and the audio is sooo clear!  Of course  CD audio is clear as well, but there's something so unique and special about listening to it straight from the record.  :')  I never expected to get Super Trouper next in my collection (it's not one of my favorite albums, shhhhhh...), but I am so happy with it, and hey, now I have 4 ABBA albums on record and they're in order too: The Album, Greatest Hits Vol.2, Voulez-Vous, and Super Trouper. :D

6 years of ABBAFan456's Blog

Today marks 6 years since I first created my blog and I honestly can't believe that it's been that long!  I remember when I first created this blog so I could share pictures of my ABBA dolls and my very small collection at the time.

Seeing as I haven't posted a collection update in quite some time (mainly because I haven't gotten anything new in a while... ), I decided to do one to celebrate. :D  Also this is a great way to document how much I've gained over the past 6 years.
I'll start off with the records since they're pretty special.  Here I have Voulez-Vous, the Album, and Greatest Hits Vol.2.  I recently got into Cospalying and while at a convention I was lucky to find Voulez-Vous for sale for $1, and f course I had to grab it.  The Album and Greatest Hits Vol.2 are from my dad.  I love all of these records and hope to someday get more. :)

Next are these incredible singles that my best friend Eleonore gave to me.  I feel so special having these and I'm so grateful to Eleonore for sending them to me.  Thank you so much!! <3

Here are all my CDs plus a cassette tape from my grandpa's house.  Arrival, Story of a Heart, and the Kristina CD are all from Eleonore (thank you again my friend! <3 ), Classic ABBA was given to me for my birthday, ABBA Gold is from my mom's CD collection, A and the Live album my dad got for me, and I found the 20th Century Master's collection at Goodwill.

Next are all the books.  Pop Story and ABBA by Calvero are gifts from Eleonore, I got ABBA the Treasures for my birthday, my dad got me ABBA the Scrapbook, and I bought the photo book.  I love all of these books so much and reading them is always so much fun.

Here I have a copy of the ABBA Intermezzo magazine which features my book, the first version of my Story of ABBA book, and the two variants of my revised edition. :)

This is what I like to call the Great Wall of ABBA.  I have even more printed out photos on the wall, but they couldn't find into the frame, haha.  Anyways, I have three incredible posters, the one of them live in 1979 is from ABBA the treasures, the hat one is from Eleonore, and I bought the Fernando one from ABBA the museum.

And of course here I have all four of ABBA's autographs.  I got Agnetha's in October 2013 and Frida, Benny, and Bjorn's in January of 2016 with Gorel Hanser's help. <3

Here are a few things that I have from ABBA the Museum.  I bought the coasters and the ABBA keychain, and the lanyard, VIP tag, pencils, and bag are from Eleanore. <3

And here are my ABBA dolls in their new 1974/75 costumes. :D
I hope you enjoyed this quick look at my ABBA collection. :D
