Do we need an ABBA biopic?

Just to clarify, no there is not an ABBA biopic in the making - this is just another one of my random posts. :)

Bohemian Rhapsody is the name of a recent biopic about the band Queen.  I haven't seen it as I don't personally like Queen, and probably won't ever, but the world seems to really love the film and consequently I have seen a lot about it on the various social medias that I'm on.  So I saw a post on tumblr today where someone said that the actors who played Queen in Bohemian Rhapsody should play ABBA in an ABBA biopic.  Firstly, I should mention, that wouldn't work.  Four guys who don't look a thing like ABBA and certainly don't sing like ABBA cannot possibly play ABBA, am I right?  Also, just because they're two bands from the 70s and 80s, ABBA and Queen have nothing to do with each other, so why are people making that connection?  That's like saying that Blondie should play Journey in a Journey film, or that the Jonas Brothers should play Yellowcard in a Yellowcard biopic.  Now that would be ridiculous.

This isn't what I'm here to talk about though, lol.

My question is, should there be an ABBA biopic in the future?  Would it be necessary?  What would be the point of it?  There have already been two documentaries where ABBA have appeared played by random actors, one of them is the Ted Gardestad movie which was pretty decent in regards to ABBA (though their hairstyles never changed throughout the years in the film, lol), and then there's one that should never be spoken about.  In the latter one, the documentary left out a huge amount of detail, twisted the story to fit an agenda, and simply wasn't accurate.  Biopics and documentaries always seem to leave out details anyway, like an I Love Lucy documentary I saw a couple of years ago which completely twisted the story and made Desi Arnaz do things that only his character Ricky Ricardo did in the show for comic relief (Would Desi Arnaz actually smash up an entire house in frustration?), so if there was an actual ABBA biopic, I fear it would change the story, add drama where it's not needed, and give everyone a fake impression of who the ABBA members are.

Part of me feels like, if the Queen biopic was super successful and has caused the band to gain many more fans, if there was an ABBA biopic, would it do the same?  Would it make ABBA ever more popular in today's day and age?  And if there was to be one someday, would it actually tell a true story without trying to make certain ABBA members or Stig the manager out as a bad guy?

As we all know, I have a problem with Tribute Bands mostly because they never sound right, look right, or get the costumes right.  Could the movie industry actually find actors who actually look like the ABBA members and the rest of the people involved in the ABBA story, and could accurate costumes actually be made without looking like cheap knockoff costumes?

And finally, if there was to be a biopic in the future, would ABBA fans like it?  Would I like it?  I probably wouldn't unless it was "perfect", and if it wasn't, well, then I'd hate it (not as much as I hate the Mamma Mia! movies, but probably close to, haha.)

But what are your thoughts?  Could there be an ABBA biopic in the future?  Will the world appreciate it?  Should it happen?  If you have any comments on it, please feel free to leave them in the comments down below. I'd love to hear. :)

Please keep your comments related to the blog's content. For example, I run multiple blogs and don't particularly want comments that have to do with one of my other blogs on a blog that has nothing really to do with the other. I might share posts because they're all my blogs, but please, keep your comments related. :)

Please don't be surprised if I don't publish your comments right away! I see every comment and will always get to them as soon as possible, just not all the time. I'm a busy person when I'm not blogging. ;)
