Goodbye, YouTube

February 25th, 2012, I created my YouTube channel, and uploaded my first ever video, a simple yet cheesy LEGO animation for the unreleased ABBA song, I Am An A.  I would continue to upload animations throughout the year, but I kinda gave up on that because animations took a lot of time and patience which I didn't really have.  It wasn't until I started in dabbling in some other types of content that my channel started to blow up, so to speak.  This one video, that I kept on making new updated versions, ABBA Performing ABBA After ABBA, got 1 million views over time.  Then I started getting more and more subscribers, which was absolutely crazy!

I made an ABBA live at Wembley concert recreations for those who never had the opportunity to go to an ABBA concert.  I even did a 1977 concert recreation, which was so hard with limited audio and footage, but I did it.  I also touched up the audio from the Eskilstuna concerts, by fixing the tempo and trying my best to fix it up.

For the past couple of years, almost every week, I would upload a new ABBA video, be it a compilation of all the time ABBA used a phrase or word, or common themes in all their songs, or analytical videos.  I would do a ton of research for my videos, and pour hours into my work.  I never monetized my videos, never could and never would because for me, this was just a hobby and a way for me to share my love and passion for my favorite band.

I shared other things on YouTube too, like videos of my sweet bird, or videos about my other interests - art, sewing - or other artists that I like - Roxette, the Jonas Brothers, Sabrina Carpenter.

Today, February 23rd, 2020, my YouTube account got terminated.  I wish YouTube had a feature of reaching out to the uploader, and requesting them to take down their video, and if you refuse, your video gets automatically taken down, but if you do it, then you don't face account termination.  But sadly they don't have that feature, and my entire YouTube channel, with 342 uploads, 14.7k subscribers, and 4,285,963 total video views, are completely gone.

It would be a lie to say I wasn't upset about this.  That's 9 years of my life completely gone off the face of the internet, and it's really disappointing that there's nothing I can do about it.  But, when one door closes, another opens?  At least I hope so.  Just because my YouTube channel is gone, doesn't mean I'm gone btw. I'm still gonna be hear, occasionally posting on this blog, and I'm also semi-active on my instagram page.  I'll probably still make videos, as I love doing the research and compiling stuff, I just won't have any place to share it.

Thank you so much for supporting my channel all these years.  I'm still blown away by the fact that nearly 15k people hit that subscribe button, and enjoyed my content.  I liked bringing new insights and just sharing my passion with everyone.  It's been a great 9 years, and I will miss it.

Before I end this post though, since I don't really have an anniversary to celebrate anymore, I figured I'd share this video that I made in honor of what would have been  my 9th YouTube anniversary.  I actually started up Lego Digital Designer again and made an animation.

Well, thank you again everyone for all the support over all the years.

Please keep your comments related to the blog's content. For example, I run multiple blogs and don't particularly want comments that have to do with one of my other blogs on a blog that has nothing really to do with the other. I might share posts because they're all my blogs, but please, keep your comments related. :)

Please don't be surprised if I don't publish your comments right away! I see every comment and will always get to them as soon as possible, just not all the time. I'm a busy person when I'm not blogging. ;)
